Holidays are meant to be enjoyed, why carry valuables such as jewellery with you, and spend sleepless nights worrying about whether they are safe. You can lock them up in the hotel safes, but many smaller places may not have safes. Your electronic items also need to be locked and kept carefully. Try to have a suitcase which needs a combination to open – those are not easy to open.
Do not leave your luggage unattended – anywhere:
This is of utmost importance, even in hotel lobbies; do not leave your luggage unattended. Do not ask a stranger to keep a watch over it while you go to the toilet.
Keep a watch all around you:
For your own personal safety, keep your eyes and ears open. Avoid lonely dark roads, do not walk around alone on deserted streets, take only the main highways and do not drive through dark stretches of roads.
Do not fall for tourist scams – specially at the airport:
Many countries have touts standing at the airport to catch naïve tourists and send them off to seamy hotels and charge them exorbitant rates. If you have your reservations ready, then you can just brush them away. If you do need to make arrangements, then make them before you leave the airport, from the authorised agents located there.
These are but a few of the common sense tips which can help you have a safe journey no matter where you go. They sound simple, but do keep them in mind, they can help to make a good holiday even better.
